One of *those* days -

Granted, it didn't start out that way. Today actually started out pretty normal. Standard things like waking up, walking the dog, breakfast, e-mail, DW, LJ, IJ checking, things of that nature. More walking of the dog, etc. etc. Dinner with former co-workers, then off to the local minor league baseball game where there was talk of Rick-Rolling (for some reason the guy at the stadium likes to play "Never Gonna Give You Up"), the catcher's dirt-covered ass, the players who were swinging at shitty pitches, the guys in the outfield who were doing a damned fine job catching the ball and figure-skating Iron Man (more on that one later). Pretty standard stuff.

That is - until my nephew (he's 8) starts running around the concrete steps around the seats - he was heading over to talk to the mascot like he typically does - but during one of his 8-year-old fits of 'I must BOUNCE!' he falls and scrapes his head. Mind, the only part we all saw was him getting up and brushing himself off. Well, he walks a couple steps away, then turns around and comes walking back with a statement of 'my head is bleeding'. We're all thinking, little scrape, no big deal. Nope. WRONG. He's scraped himself a nice 1/2 inch long gash about a 1/4 of an inch wide. So, he gets a trip, first, to the stadium first aid station, then to the little area outside the ticket window to wait for the EMTs, then off to the ER (but not in the ambulance, b/c he was stable and it would save my sister the whatever-hundred-dollars transport fee (hooray for conscientious EMTs)).

As of right now, that's all I know - other than, he's gonna be fine, just needs to have the wound cleaned and stitched up. Sis, Grandma and nephew are at the ER, niece is here with me and Grandpa - and the dog *g*. Updates as I have them. and if I forget to update, just poke me - I get forgetful about stuff

ETA - 13 Aug: Nephew got 4 stitches and was sent on home - after 5 1/2 hours in the freaking ER. Someone please tell me *why* there is a need to make people wait that damned long for *anything* in the ER? Especially kids. whatever... i'm too tired to think about that anymore - yes, at noon, still too tired and i can't go back to sleep because i have to go to work at 3
